Daniel
Federspiel was the winner of the VAL GARDENA HERO XCE race which was
held in the very centre of Ortisei.
First
in the womens competition was Anna Oberparleiter.
There
was a gre at response from the public present and the Sellaronda
HERO Organising Committee was well pleased with proceedings,
believing the Eliminator to be a real spectacular event.
Val
Gardena’s mountain bike weekend got off to a fine start in Val
Gardena yesterday afternoon when along the streets of Ortisei the
second edition of the spectacular VAL GARDENA HERO XCE took place.
It is certainly a thrilling event and the simplicity of the race
format proved attractive to the
watching public, they coming out in great numbers to witness the fun
and competition. The Eliminator race is a series of heats with four
bikers taking place in each and only the first two home going
through to the next round.
Winner
of the VAL GARDENA HERO XCE was Daniel Federspiel competing for the
Team Scott, second was Elia Silvestri representing Team Full Dynamix
and in third place on the podium was Sepp Freiburghaus from team
Thömus Racing Team.
Andrea
Tiberi finished fourth.
“It
was a very tough race with a technical track – said
Daniel Federspiel - it was also a very hard fight thanks to the
other racers. I’m very satisfied for my performance”.
In
the Womens race victory went to Anna
Oberparleiter from the L’Arcobaleno Carraro Team, she holding off
the challenge of Alessia Bulleri from the GS Forestale team, and
completing the winning trio was Denise Meraner from the Dynamic Bike
Team.
For
the record Lisa Nalter was palced fourth.
«I
really want to do well in this competition because I consider this
my second home - said Anna Oberparleiter – and win for the second
year in a row is really a great result».
As
the event came to its conclusion the organisers of the Südtirol
Sellaronda HERO were pleased to announce “We are really happy with
the way the day went, both in race and organisational terms. The
presence of so many spectators here in Ortisei confirms our belief
that the Eliminator really is a spectacular and spectator friendly
event”.
And
on the 13/07/2014 we are ready for the cross country race! In fact
at Santa Cristina, on the well known ski slopes area of Monte Pana
there will be the VAL GARDENA HERO XCO.
The
race starts at 10.00 and 205 bikers will be taking part in the
various categories (Young, Newcomers, Élite, Juniors, Master &
Open).
The
outright favourite to win is Gerhard Kerschbaumer, the Under 23
World Champion and winner of last year’s race.
