FEDERSPIEL WILL BEIM „GRÖDEN HERO XCE“ GEWINNEN – INTERNATIONALES ELIMINATOR-RENNEN AM SAMSTAG, DEN 12. JULI IN ST. ULRICH

​Um seine internationale Führungsrolle unter Beweis zu stellen,  wird auch der amtierende Europameister am Samstagnachmittag beim XC Eliminator  in Gröden antreten. Am Sonntag verlegt sich das Renngeschehen nach Monte Pana, wo das zweite Cross-Country-Rennen „GRÖDEN HERO XCO“ stattfindet. Rund 200 Biker werden daran teilnehmen.

Das kommende Rennwochenende in Gröden verspricht sowohl für Touristen, als auch für Mountainbike-Fans adrenalinintensiv zu werden. Am Samstagnachmittag steht in St. Ulrich das Ausscheidungsrennen GRÖDEN HERO XCE auf dem Programm. Das neue Wettkampfformat wurde dem 4-Cross-Wettkampf aus dem alpinen Skisport entlehnt. Dabei treten vier Sportler gegeneinander an, aber nur die zwei schnellsten kommen in die nächste Runde.

Unter den Spitzenathleten, die das Rennen auf einem Rundkurs durch das Ortszentrum von St. Ulrich bestreiten, befindet sich auch Daniel Federspiel. Der Österreicher ist beim XC Eliminator  das „Maß aller Dinge“, ist er doch amtierender Europameister und kann sonst noch zwei weitere Podiumsplätze bei den Europameisterschaften vorweisen. Mit der Schnelligkeit und Explosivkraft von Federspiel messen sich beispielsweise renommierte Athleten wie der Schweizer Sepp Freiburghaus, der  Trentiner Martino Fruet und der Südtiroler  Fabian Rabensteiner. Bei den Frauen gilt die 24-jährige Anna Oberparleiter aus Bruneck, die im vergangenen Jahr in Gröden erste XCE-Italienmeisterin wurde, als Favoritin. Der Titel bei den Männern ging übrigens an den Elia Silvestri aus Italien.

Die Sprinter treten beim GRÖDEN HERO XCE auf einem Rundkurs von 370 Metern, welcher zweimal befahren werden muss, gegeneinander an. Der Start-Zielbereich  befindet sich auf dem kleinen Antoniusplatz in St. Ulrich. Die Qualifikation zur Festlegung der Startreihenfolge findet um 16.30 Uhr statt, während die Finalläufe um 18.00 Uhr ausgetragen werden. Das Preisgeld beläuft sich auf insgesamt 8.000 Euro.

Und Sonntag: Cross Country
Am Sonntag, den 13. Juli, findet am Monte Pana oberhalb von St.Christina das Cross-Country-Rennen GRÖDEN HERO XCO statt. Dabei treten 200 Biker in verschiedenen Kategorien gegeneinander an: Schüler, Jugend, Elite, Junioren, Master M1/M2/M3/M4 und Open, sowohl Männer als auch Frauen. Der Startschuss für die jüngeren Kategorien fällt um 10.00, für die Elite um 11.00 Uhr. Highlight ist dabei die Teilnahme des amtierenden U23-Weltmeisters Gerhard Kerschbaumer, der versuchen wird, seinen Sieg aus dem vergangenen Jahr zu wiederholen. Zu seinen schärfsten Konkurrenten um den Sieg gehört der Spanier  Ivan Alvarez Gutierrez.

FEDERSPIEL LOOKING TO WIN THE VAL GARDENA HERO XCE, THE INTERNATIONAL ELIMINATOR RACE IN ORTISEI ON SATURDAY 12TH JULY

The European champion in this new mountain bike speciality will be on the starting line of the XCE in Ortisei in Val Gardena this coming Saturday afternoon and he is looking to confirm his strength in this discipline On Sunday attention will move to Monte Pana and the second running of the VAL GARDENA HERO XCO, the cross country spectacular which will see more than 200 bikers taking part. 

All tourists staying in Val Gardena in these days, and of course mountain bike enthusiasts in general, are welcome to attend what will surely be thrilling and action-packed races. Just at Ortisei alone there will be various races making up the VAL GARDENA HERO XCE, the Eliminator style race taking its lead from the alpine skiing format whereby there are a series of heats involving four competitors and only the first placed two go through to the next round.

Among the top names taking part in the Ortisei event, the race being right in the heart of the village, is the Austrian Daniel Federspiel, a star of Eliminator events having already had two victories at XCE European Championships, he being the actual holder of the European title. Trying to seize victory from him in this event will be the Swiss biker Sepp Freiburghaus and our own local competitors Martino Fruet and Fabian Rabensteiner, whilst in the womens race the 24 year old Anna Oberparleiter  from Brunico is among the favourites, she full of confidence after her success in last year’s XCE Eliminator in Ortisei when she was crowned as Italian champion. For the record in last year’s Mens Eliminator in Ortisei the winner was Elia Silvestri.

The VAL GARDENA HERO XCE race takes place on a 370 metre ring style route which is to be completed twice with the start and the finish being in Piccola Piazza S. Antonioin the centre of Ortisei. Qualifying races get going at 16.30 and the main and deciding races at 18.00. Total prizemoney amounts to 8,000 Euro.

And on Sunday ... the cross country event.
The show continues on Sunday 13th July when at Santa Cristina where on the well known ski slopes of Monte Pana there will be the VAL GARDENA HERO XCO, with over 200 bikers competing in different categories: Youth, Newcomers, Élite, Juniors, Master M1/M2/M3/M4 and Open, both for men and women. The youngest competitors race at 10.00 whilst the Élite start at 11.00. We look forward to seeing the actual Under 23 World Champion Gerhard Kerschbaumer in action and he will be keen to win again this year. He will have to fend off the efforts of other highly rated cross country bikers. especially Ivan Alvarez Gutierrez, born 1981 and of Spanish nationality. He was second in the XCO national championships.

► TORNANO LE PROVE XCE E XCO IN VAL GARDENA

Weekend ad alto tasso di adrenalina quello che è in programma in Val Gardena tra sabato 12 e domenica 13 luglio, quando le strade di Ortisei e i sentieri di Monte Pana a Santa Cristina ospiteranno due competizioni di mountain bike di assoluto livello. L’ Eliminator internazionale vedrà i migliori atleti della specialità a contendersi il ricco montepremi, mentre il cross country a Monte Pana è valido per il GP MTB d’Italia.
Entrambe le manifestazioni saranno parte del programma HERO BIKE FESTIVAL dei Campionati del Mondo UCI Marathon 2015 che vedrà assegnare il titolo mondiale nella giornata di sabato 27 giugno. In Val Gardena si respira già aria mondiale.

► DIE TESTRENNEN XCE UND XCO KOMMEN WIEDER NACH GRÖDEN

In knapp einer Woche steht in Gröden wieder ein spannendes und hochkarätiges Mountainbike-Rennwochenende auf dem Programm. Am Samstag, den 12. Juli wird im Zentrum von St. Ulrich bereits zum zweiten Mal der XC Eliminator ausgetragen, während am Sonntag, den 13. Juli auf Monte Pana in St. Christina ein nationales Cross-Country-Rennen stattfindet. Beim XC Eliminator, dem spektakuläre Ausscheidungsrennen mit dem Mountainbike, sprinten internationale Top-Athleten um satte Preisgelder.
Das Cross-Country–Rennen auf Monte Pana wird als Italien Grand Prix gewertet. Beide Veranstaltungen gehören 2015 zum „HERO BIKE FESTIVAL“, dem Programm der WM-Woche anlässlich der UCI Marathon WM 2015. Der Weltmeistertitel wird am Samstag, den 27. Juni 2015 vergeben, aber schon jetzt weht in Gröden ein internationaler Wind…

► THE XCE AND XCO RACES ARE BACK IN VAL GARDENA

A weekend of action packed biking is in programme in Val Gardena for Saturday and Sunday the 12th and 13th July when the Ortisei roads and the trails of Monte Pana and Santa Cristina are host to two prestigious mountain bike races. The international Eliminator race will see the specialisation’s best bikers compete for attractive prize-money, whilst the cross country race at Monte Pana is part of the ‘GP MTB d’Italia’.
Both races will also be part of the HERO BIKE FESTIVAL programme of the UCI Marathon 2015 World Championship event which will see the world championship title awarded on the 27th June. Already in Val Gardena there is a buzz in the air as great racing times approach.

TORNA L’ELIMINATOR IN VAL GARDENA E RADDOPPIA CON IL XCO
 
Weekend ad alto tasso di adrenalina quello che è in programma in Val Gardena tra sabato 12 e domenica 13 luglio, quando le strade di Ortisei e i sentieri di Monte Pana a Santa Cristina ospiteranno due competizioni di mountain bike di assoluto livello e con l’imprinting della Südtirol Sellaronda HERO di fine giugno.

Il secondo weekend di luglio sarà all’insegna della mountain bike in Val Gardena. Si inizia sabato 12 luglio con la HERO XCE, ovvero la competizione nell’innovativo format “eliminator” disegnata su un tracciato cittadino nel cuore di Ortisei (un anello di 370 metri da ripetersi due volte).  La gara prevede sfide in linea tra quattro biker e solo i due più veloci passano al turno successivo, come in un tabellone tennistico, per poi comporre la finale che decreta il vincitore.

 

«Dopo l’esordio dello scorso anno abbiamo voluto riproporre la gara eliminator per la sua spettacolarità – commenta Gerhard Vanzi, responsabile dell’organizzazione – e in questa edizione ci aspettiamo una partecipazione allargata a molti stranieri». E tra i grandi interpreti internazionali di questa specialità che richiede doti di forza esplosiva e ottimo controllo del mezzo ma anche acume tattico e tanto coraggio, c’è l'austriaco Daniel Federspiel due volte medaglia d’oro ai Campionati Europei di XCE e detentore del titolo continentale. Da non dimenticare la partecipazione di Gerhard Kerschbaumer, beniamino di casa che difenderà il titolo conquistato a Monte Pana  nella scorsa edizione, e del campione olimpico di Sydney 2000, il francese Miguel Martinez.

 
 
Alta partecipazione straniera.
Tuttavia il parterre è destinato ad allargarsi perché il comitato organizzatore ha già ricevuto numerose richieste da biker provenienti da Germania, Svizzera e Austria. A indossare la maglia tricolore 2013 fu Anna Oberparleiter che si permise il lusso di battere la più forte biker italiana in attività, Eva Lechner, mentre tra gli uomini fu dominio di Elia Silvestri. Alla HERO XCE in palio un montepremi in denaro superiore a 8.000 Euro.

La mountain bike in circuito.
Ma non finisce qui, perché il giorno dopo sarà la volta della gara HERO XCO, gara nazionale di cross country che si svolgerà nel centro Nordic Skiing di Monte Pana, nel comune di Santa Cristina, grazie ad un circuito di 4 chilometri e 160 metri di dislivello. La gara di domenica 13 luglio è disegnata sul tracciato che si trova a 1630 metri di quota, proprio ai piedi del Sassolungo e alla messa a punto del percorso ha collaborato Hubert Pallhuber, già iridato di mountain bike e attualmente CT della nazionale.

 

Dopo la prova generale dello scorso anno con le vittorie del già citato enfant du pais Gerhard Kerschbaumer e di Serena Calvetti la Val Gardena, e tutta l’organizzazione HERO, sono pronti a confezionare un evento a carattere nazionale che fa parte del circuito Gran Premio d’Italia: in programma anche una competizione giovanile valevole per la Südtirol Cup e un’altra con bambini biker VSS organizzata dall’associazione sportiva Rodes Gherdëina.

 

 Preludio mondiale.
E il prossimo anno le due manifestazioni HERO XCE e HERO XCO verranno riproposte come eventi di apertura della settimana “mondiale” della Südtirol Sellaronda HERO: entrambe le manifestazioni saranno parte del programma HERO BIKE FESTIVAL dei Campionati del Mondo UCI Marathon 2015 che vedrà assegnare il titolo mondiale nella giornata di sabato 27 giugno. Tomorrow, Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 7:10 am, the international judges will sent off the Elite Ladies on their 62 km/3.300 m track around the Sella mountain. The Start is located in front of the Tourist Office in Selva/Wolkenstein. Ten minutes later, the world’s best male marathon racers will take on the 84 km/4,300 m track. The fifth Südtirol Sellaronda HERO is part of the UCI Marathon Series. It is the seventh and last long-distance race ahead of the World Championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa next week.

“I’ve prepared intensely for the World Championshis and also completed a few races” says Urs Huber, the 2008 Swiss World Championship Bronze winner, adding: “Which is why I’m in tip-top shape for the HERO”. The winner of the 2012 UCI World

Series, German Steffen Thum’s primary goal is to win the UCI Marathon World Series again. “And the HERO is probably the most beautiful race among them”. His form is coming back after a knee injury in March. The two-fold HERO winner, Leonardo Paez, is also in good condition and hoping for a third gold. So far this season, he captured four races in Italy and the Alpentour in Austria.
